Considered as one of the emerging filmmakers of the Iranian documentary scene, Mokhtar Namdar’s works have been repeatedly screened in numerous national and international film festivals. The House in the Fog is Namdar’s latest documentary film that tactfully embraces the loneliness of a woman with images that are closer to painting than photography.
The movie will be showcased at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival held in Toronto from April 23 till May 03.
As its presence in earlier international events, The House in the Fog was screened at the 4th edition of the Iranian Film Festival held from January 7-11, 2015 in Czech Republic.
The film recounts the story of a woman, named Sorayya, who lives her life of solitude in a 100 year old mansion in an idyllic hilly landscape where she seems to miss no one and her daily chores make her life meaningful. The house is the only reason she tolerates all the hardships of living alone in wild nature. But as huge as the mansion would be for its only inhabitant, it may be just fit for the secrets and ghosts of her past that follow her.
Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival is North America’s largest documentary festival, conference and market, and takes place in Toronto, Canada.
Each year, the Festival presents a selection of more than 180 cutting-edge documentaries from Canada and around the globe. Through its industry programs, Hot Docs also provides a full range of professional development, market and networking opportunities for documentary professionals.
